Ninguna de estas lenguas est\u00e1 reconocida oficialmente y la normalizaci\u00f3n de su uso y su estandarizaci\u00f3n tanto en la administraci\u00f3n como en la sociedad es una asignatura que sigue pendiente. En nuestro sistema, la ley que regula las lenguas de signos es la 27\/2007, de 23 de octubre. Esta ley reconoce las lenguas de signos espa\u00f1olas y regula los medios de apoyo a la comunicaci\u00f3n oral de las personas sordas, con discapacidad auditiva y sordociegas (BOE 255, de 24-10-2007). La consideraci\u00f3n de que estas lenguas son de segunda categor\u00eda, muy a menudo, deja a la poblaci\u00f3n sordociega indefensa frente a la administraci\u00f3n y la justicia, as\u00ed como en la educaci\u00f3n. Esta propuesta considera otros modelos estatales en los que la lengua de signos es oficial. A partir del an\u00e1lisis concreto de la legislaci\u00f3n austr\u00edaca, identificamos los \u00e1mbitos en los que es posible una regulaci\u00f3n central para mejorar la situaci\u00f3n de estos ciudadanos. Comparamos estas posibilidades con la legislaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola vigente e identificamos los vac\u00edos sobre los que el legislador deber\u00eda actuar. La propuesta se sit\u00faa dentro del postmonoling\u00fcismo, que intenta dar cabida a la pluralidad de identidades, m\u00e1s en concreto de idiomas, dentro de un mismo territorio y cultura. En esta corriente todav\u00eda no hay ning\u00fan estudio sobre la lengua de signos.
