Summary:
Cooperative Autonomous networked Robotics for Maintenance, and Enhanced maNipulation (CARMEN) is a subproject that forms part of TANDEM
The TANDEM coordinated research project aims to use a heterogeneous marine multi-robot system, composed of an ASV and a bi-manual I-AUV to address complex underwater intervention tasks targeting the IMR (Inspection Maintenance and Repair) of offshore eolic parks and fish farms, with a level of autonomy not previously demonstrated. To achieve this, the project must address several objectives such as the design of multimodal remote user interfaces, advanced control methods, multi-vehicle coordination strategies, multimodal communication, mapping of complex underwater structures or defect detection and monitoring operations, among others. The complexity of TANDEM requires a multidisciplinary team including mechanical, electronic and computer engineers, as well as in AI, telecommunications and mathematics. To cope with this complexity, the project has been split into three sub-projects according to the expertise of each partner and the facilities they have available.
